Choosing between uPVC and aluminium is an engineering decision, not a matter of taste. The fundamental difference is the material: aluminium is a metal and a good conductor of heat, which is why its insulated systems rely on a thermal break between the inner and outer faces. uPVC is an insulating material to begin with, and the air chambers inside the profile add to that.

When to choose which
- When thermal and acoustic insulation lead in a residential unit: multi-chamber uPVC casement systems are the direct route.
- For exceptional spans or special structural requirements: engineer each opening individually against its wind load.
