The two names appear together in the market, but the materials differ in composition and purpose. WPC stands for wood plastic composite: wood fibre mixed with a polymer. uPVC is rigid unplasticised polyvinyl chloride, extruded as a hollow chambered profile and reinforced with a steel bar in structural sections.
Where each is typically used
- WPC: common in interior doors and finishing work, with a look closer to timber.
- uPVC: window and external door systems requiring air and water tightness and documented thermal performance.
The real comparison items
Instead of asking which is better, ask about the use: an interior bathroom door has a moisture requirement; an external door has tightness, wind-load and security requirements.
